Daphne Thomas, a 10-year veteran of the coaching industry, will take over the Germantown High School Lady Red Devils basketball program for the upcoming 2020-21 season.

Coach Thomas, a born and raised Memphian, graduated from the University of Tennessee at Martin with a bachelor’s degree in history and earned her masters’ degrees at the University of Mississippi in educational leadership and administration.

Coach Thomas’ career started at North Panola Middle School in Como, Miss. where she served as the head coach for the program for just one year before being tapped to lead the North Panola High School girls’ basketball program.

She led the North Panola High School girls’ basketball program from 2011-2019.

During her tenure as head coach, she won the Panola County Coach of the Year honors in 2012, led her team for several district championship games, and comprised a 111-73 record.

During the 2019-20 basketball season, Coach Thomas served as the head coach of the Germantown Middle School girls’ and boys’ basketball teams, leading the boys’ team to a 14-3 record.

“I am extremely humbled and grateful for the opportunity to be the girls’ head basketball coach at Germantown High School,” Thomas said.

She looks to bring a rejuvenated spirit and energy to rebuild the promising Lady Red Devils basketball program.
